We’re now accepting online submissions for the 2012 Bridgetown Comedy Festival! Just visit http://bridgetowncomedy.com/submit to apply to perform in this year’s festival. The application fee is only $20 until February 15th, then $30 until we close submissions on February 29th. That’s right — leap year! Exciting, right?

Bridgetown was just voted “Best Comedy Festival” in Punchline Magazine’s Punchlist 2010 readers poll! Thanks to all of you who have worked so hard to make this festival such a success, and thanks to everyone who voted!

We’re gearing up for the 2011 fest, scheduled for April 21st through 24th here in beautiful Portland, Oregon, and we are now accepting submissions for performers. We’re looking for the funniest sketch and standup comedians around, and if you think that might be you, here’s how to submit.

Catch Portland hometown hero (and Bridgetown Comedy Festival co-founder) Matt Braunger on his very own Comedy Central Presents tonight, April 9th, at 11pm. Read more about Matt and his comedy pedigree on A Special Thing.

Tonight you can also see 2010 Bridgetown comic Baron Vaughn on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and as if that weren’t enough, the Awkward Comedy Show with Vaughn and fellow Bridgetown comics Victor Varnado and Eric Andre debuts (and 2009 Bridgetown standout Hannibal Buress) at midnight on Comedy Central. Fire up those Tivos!

The preliminary 2010 festival schedule is now posted here, and it’s pretty incredible – every show is jam-packed with talent. We’ll be making some tweaks to the schedule and the site over the next couple of weeks, including adding more performer bios and linking performers with their show times and venues to make your festival planning even easier. Keep checking back for updates.

Soon-to-be cult classic “Birdemic” is featured in today’s New York Times!

Oh, and did we mention “Birdemic” is making its Portland debut at this year’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival at a special midnight screening on Friday, April 23rd? And that it’s taking place at the beautiful Bagdad Theater? And that director James Nguyen will be in attendance? Yes. Yes we did mention that. But it bears repeating.
