With an ambiguous ethnic appearance, jokes about Star Trek and a name no one can fully pronounce, Elicia Sanchez is a stand-up comedian, part-time video store employee, maker of bad decisions and mostly an adult. Born in Olympia, WA and raised on the Quinault Indian Reservation made famous by vampires, Elicia moved to the Emerald City in 2007 after a failed attempt to relocate to Japan to become an English teacher and hand model. After a few years of attending local comedy shows, Elicia finally got the courage to perform stand up at an open mic in 2010. She has been balancing meager paychecks between comic books and happy hour while performing stand-up comedy in the Seattle area and surrounding cities ever since.
Elicia has performed with national touring headliners such as Graham Elwood and Jackie Kashian and has opened for comedians Duncan Trussell and Hari Kondabolu. She has also performed at Seattle’s Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival and Seattle’s annual horror festival, Crypticon. Elicia has appeared in an online commercial for Real Networks, an online web series with famed Seattle drag queen and Ru Paul’s Drag Race contestant Jinx Monsoon and will be in an upcoming documentary on the history of VHS titled, Rewind This! She is most proud of currently holding a “Bacon Number” of 8 due to appearing as an extra in an unknown Seattle-based independent movie (Steel of Fire Warriors: 2010 A.D) in which she “shares” an incredibly brief scene with comedian/musician Reggie Watts. She is currently a writer/member of the Seattle-based comedy troupe, Children of the Atom, the host of a comedy podcast about bad movies entitled, The Enematic Cinematic and producer and host of three Seattle comedy shows (Level Up!, The Enematic Cinematic: LIVES and Dork Wars: The Ultimate Nerd Debate). Elicia is a lover of all things tacky, horribly awful movies and spreadable foods. Her dislikes include werewolves, cancer and stuffed animals with arms and legs.
Writer Lindy West (Jezebel, The Stranger) once referred to Elicia as “a grumpy nugget of delight.” Elicia loves nuggets so she is pretty sure this is a compliment.
